Most kids only really work to impress Santa Claus or The Easter Bunny in the weeks leading up to the holidays, but what about the rest of the year? Well, folks, there’s a new sheriff in town… and it’s literally the sheriff! In order to engage with youth and encourage good behaviour, officers of the Calgary Police Service has teamed up with a popular convenience store to begin ticketing youngers for positive behaviour.

“Youth will be rewarded by CPS officers if witnessed following COVID-19 protocols, being kind and upstanding citizens, or helping their community” they announced on their Instagram.

Things like wearing a bike helmet, looking both ways when they cross the street or being kind to others could land them one of these affirmations, which can actually be traded in at Circle K for a treat or two.

“We are excited to be part of a program that positively impacts the lives of youth,” says Staff Sergeant Ralph Veckenstedt, of the Calgary Police Service Youth Education Unit. “It helps to create a stronger community.”

Honestly, it really doesn’t get any sweeter, folks. But we just have one question. How do we get in on this?
