Calgary malls limit operations to essential services only

To the surprise of almost no one, after recommendations made by the Prime Minister and public health officials, Calgary has officially decided to shut down all city malls, only leaving the essential services within them open. Looks like we’re taking our shopping online!

The Core Shopping Centre, all Calgary Cadillac Fairview owned malls, and Marlborough Mall has closed up shop. Also suspending operations due to COVID-19 will be Southcentre, Sunridge and Cross Iron.

“The health and safety of our customers, all employees at Southcentre and our community will always be our highest priority,” said Southcentre Mall in a statement.

Essential services include telecommunication companies, banks, pharmacies and optometrist offices. These places will remain open until further notice and thank goodness. Our eyes are strained from staring at the TV for a week straight.

As updates roll in, we’ll keep you guys updated, but until then, as always; stay inside, stay safe and thank your lucky stars for online shopping. Man, we never thought we’d miss food court food so much.
