Have you ever looked at any of Calgary’s public art and thought ‘I could do better than that?” Well, Picasso, you’ve got until November 26th to prove it! This year, the city will be giving one YYC artist $30k to create their very own piece, and it could be you!

The city has openly invited all professional artists to submit their ideas, and have agreed to completely fund their favourite!

All applicants must be 18 years or older and a resident of Calgary or a nearby community. Only serious submissions will be accepted and they ask that anyone who does choose to participate have some kind of training in an artistic field.

In addition to individual creatives, they’ll also be inviting teams or community partners to participate, again, as long as they have artistic experience!

Lastly, it really goes without saying, but all public art ideas must be safe, respectful, original, and should have a lifespan of at least 5 years.

To apply check out the city’s website here¬†and send in your updated resume, pictures of your previous work, and a completed application form before the 26th of next month!

Good luck, Calgary! We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
