Sick of midway food yet? How about something different? Calgary certainly has no shortage of bars, restaurants, and fast-food joints, but we could always use a few more! This month, after you’re all corn dogged out, check out YYC’s tasty additions to the foodie scene. Here are 5 new restaurants and bars in Calgary you should try this month.

Meltwich

If you’ve never heard of Meltwich, you guys are in for a treat. This company has restos across Canada and is beloved for its contemporary take on grilled cheese, Mac and Cheese, Poutines with extra cheese, and Philly Cheese, among other lactose-unfriendly foods.

Where: 1610 10 St SW, Calgary

Actually Pretty Good

We don’t remember ever having a bad piece of pizza, but when you have a good slice… that biz will stay with you for the rest of your life. Actually Pretty Good, is a hell of a lot more than just that. Brought to us by the folks at Our Daily Brett, APG is a Calgary’s newest modern neighbourhood za joint. These guys make cheesy, fluffy crust goodness, pasta, salads, and bite-sized shareable like calamari. 10/10 would recommend.

Where: 2509 14th Street SW, Calgary

Paper Lantern

There’s always room in YYC for another cocktail bar! Paper Lantern is a contemporary speakeasy-style lounge with amazing looking Vietnamese tapas, subs, bowls, and a super unique, tropically inclined drink menu. It’s like a vacation for your mouth!

Where: Basement – 115 – 2 Avenue SE, Calgary

V Burger

From non-dairy ice cream, and burgers that could even fool a cow, everything from V-Burger, Calgary’s newest and most delicious looking plant-based fast food joint looks incredible. We’ve been waiting on these guys for a while now, and are more than excited for their grand opening this Saturday, July 11th at 11 am.

Where: 819 17 Ave SW, Calgary

A1 BODEGA AND CAFE

We were heartbroken when Two Penny and the Tea House closed, but next week, the folks behind the dynamic duo will be opening their brand new Bodega A1 Cafe! Bodega’s food looks incredible, their concept looks modern and fun, and honestly, we just totally trust them. They’ll be opening next week, Wednesday, July 15th.

Where: 1213 1st St. SW, Calgary

There you have it, hungry friends. Which one of these tasty new restaurants do you plan on trying after you wake up from your carnival food-coma? Obviously, we’ll be giving all of them a go. Maybe we’ll see you out there!
