10 Calgary events that you should definitely check out this fall
Ready or not, it’s here, YYC! With the smell of pumpkin spice in the air, booties on our feet, and a love for horror in our hearts, we are beyond excited to bring you curious kittens a list of 10 Calgary events to check out this fall! Of course, with COVID still lurking on high-touch surfaces, anything could be cancelled in a moment’s notice so keep that in mind while planning so far ahead. That’s not to say that we’re not optimistic, though!

Breathe in some of that fresh fall air at the Inglewood night market! This COVID-friendly, super tasty event is the perfect autumn kick-off year after year. Of course, because of the virus, things will look a little different, but what annual festival or celebration doesn’t?
When: Friday, September 18th and 25th

Cost: $5 per two-hour time slot
Did you guys know that there are over 7,500 different varieties of apples in existence? That’s insane, no? From giant balloon apples to cider demonstrations and candy apple making, Apple Fest is basically the ultimate fall event, even if you leave never wanting to look at another Granny Smith again.
When: Saturday, September 26th and September 27th

Back by popular demand! From vintage classics to new school cool and now ookey-spooky favourites, Motor Nights: A Series of Drive-In Events will, once again, bring you nostalgia, excitement, and a sense of community in a year when we could all use it the most. Fancy a brew? Head to the zoo! This month, one of Calgary’s favourite attractions will celebrate everything local, cold and delicious with Alberta-proud craft beer, homegrown deliciousness, and fun twilight adults-only activities! in partnership with BeerGuysYYC, will showcase 17 different breweries all in the hopes of bringing the community together to support the local economy.

Hot air balloons in the fall? Talk about a killer combo. Get up close, but not too close, and personal, but not too personal, with vendors, the balloons, and their pilots during this year’s (COVID-friendly) Heritage Inn Balloon festival, a colourful breezy event and an autumn favourite.

Halloween is going to look a little bit different than last year or the year before. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to get our spooks elbow to elbow with other Calgarians, but we will be able to sneak a fright or two bumper to bumper thanks to Haunted Calgary. This October, feel so safe it’s scary at The Devils Drive-in, a 2020 Halloween Experience.

Take in the beautiful fall colours from the steam train, the historical village, or pathways in and around Calgary’s Heritage Park. Stop at the candy store, or pop into the Selkirk grill for a family, COVID-friendly harvest bite.

Corn mazes, kettle corn, corn dogs, pumpkins?! The Calgary farmyard is fall. Pick the perfect Jack o’ lantern, play some outdoor carnival games. Visit with farm animals, hit the pedal carts, or grab something tasty and make some mems along the way. These folks practically live for this season.

Are you afraid of the dark, Calgary? The only thing scarier than COVID is those that lurk in the shadows on Aspen Crossings Train of Terror. Despite everything going on right now, the Mossleigh attraction has confirmed that they will be going forward with their spooky must-visit, in fact, they’ve added a few new attractions like their photo-op alley and will preview their 2021 haunt.

See the darker side of Calgary’s beloved Heritage Park. Start your evening with a few drinks and then head to your chosen meeting point. Wince, cringe and mix and mingle with other groups while you visit “active” sights on one of these tophat guided lantern-lit tours.
