Well, this isn’t the mid-week news we were looking for. Julio’s Barrio is closing down for renovations and they have no idea when they’ll be open again. Aye caramba, amigos, it looks like we’ll have to grab a bulldog ASAP.

The Kensington fiesta hot spot has been keeping the corner of Memorial Drive and 10th Street NW warm for 15 years. According to the Julio’s Barrio Instagram post, they are closing their doors at the end of the month.

Damn, not having one of Calgary’s favourite Mexican spots is definitely going to make the winter even colder. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that Julio’s Barrio comes back better than ever.

Although, there is one thing that we aren’t upset about. Julio’s missing out on fall means Calgary misses out on the return of the infamous Pumpkin Spice Bulldog.

Ah, who else got to sip on this monstrosity? Hey, we’ll always commend Julio’s Barrio for trying things that no one else would, even if that means trying things no one ever should.

We hope to see you soon, Julio’s Barrio.
