It’s comfort food season, folks! We seriously don’t know a single person who isn’t up for a bowl of pho at any time of day, any day of the week between November and early March. It’s like a hug from the inside out. Calgary’s pretty lucky to have so many incredible places to choose from and it was tough to narrow it down, but here are our picks for 5 spots to grab the best pho in Calgary.
BOLSA
Bolsa is a family-owned restaurant that’s been in business since 2005. Their pho is made with fresh vegetables, fine cuts of meat, and is MSG-free, which makes a world of difference. Not only do we love these guys for their incredible broth, we love them for loving everyone that walks in as much as they do. If you’re looking for a welcoming resto, this is your place!

Tamarind
Tamarind Vietnamese is a vegan hole in the wall restaurant. If you’re a meat lover, don’t let this scare you away! They use old authentic family recipes that are gluten-free and MSG-free, and they’re incredibly friendly.

Pho Hoai
If you know, you know. Pho Hoai has some of the best satay soup in the city. Their broth is primo, and they’re super accommodating to preferences and dietary restrictions. This place now has two locations, and is 100% worth checking out.

Pho Dau Bo
Pho Dau Bo is another traditional family-run restaurant. They’ve been around since 2008, and in that time have perfected the art of customer service. Their broth is cooked for an insane 16 hours and they use fresh ingredients. Pho lovers should definitely check this place out!

Pho Huong Viet
Pho Huong is authentic Vietnamese goodness in a bottomless bowl. The broth is practically perfect and they encourage customization. Pick your meat, how you like it cooked and how spicy you want it, and then add all the fixins’. It’s pho your way, guys! If we’ve learned anything about the people of the internet, it’s that your way is the right way. We know there was that whole… health code thing… at the 17th Ave location, so we’re linking Ranchlands. Enter at your own risk, the soup is still bomb.
