Calgary’s fave Easter Eggstravaganza returns
Easter long weekend is almost here, so you’re probably looking for some family-friendly fun to occupy the tots. Well, we’re happy to say that the annual Easter Eggstravaganza at the Calgary Zoo is back on April 19th and 20th! Suffice it to say that we’re pretty eggstatic about it. Oh…yeah, if you’re not into puns, you’ll probably want to stop reading now. Just kidding – we’re just yolkin’ with ya.
This event is all about playing, exploring, creating and learning. It’s the perfect way to welcome spring with arms wide open. You and your kiddos will be able to hop through four activity zones: Creativity Zone, Play Zone, Sweet Zone, and Enviro Zone.
Creativity Zone at the Discover Centre (across from Penguin Plunge)
Stop by to get faces painted before getting some eggcellent Instagram-worthy pics with the little ones. This is a popular booth, so you might want to get your free timed-ticket ahead of time. You’ll also be able to make a ‘lil treat bag to take home, at one of the four treat tables set up. There will also be games and activities to enjoy!
Sweet Zone at the Enmax Conservatory
If there’s ever a time to indulge in a little sweetness, it might as well be with Easter-themed treats. Crave Cupcakes will be set up in the Enmax Conservatory, so you can grab one (or two, or three…no judgment) and get your picture snapped in the Canadian Mint photo booth! When the sugar rush kicks in, work it off by getting artistic at the mural.
Play Zone at the Safari Lodge in Destination Africa
Thanks to Cobb’s Corn Maze, there will be some of the most popular children’s characters stopping by, like Elmo, Minions, Angry Birds and Kangaroo! Between the giant hamster ball, archery, and the bouncy house, there will be a ton of activities to tire your kiddos right out.
Enviro Zone at the West Lawn BBQ Tent (across from Panda Passage)
We all have decade-old cell phones sitting around the house (shoutout to the Blackberry Pearl and Motorola Razr), so put ‘em to good use and bring them down to the oo this weekend! In the Enviro Zone, you’ll be able to recycle your old mobile devices while learning about the importance of conservation efforts – through games and activities, of course. Learning won’t stop there, ‘cause the City of Calgary will be teaching all about composting and recycling, and The Calgary Produce Marketing Association will be sharing fun facts about local produce and their relationship with bees.
Well folks, there you have it- an eggciting source of family-friendly fun this long weekend! We’ll see you at the zoo.
