Find the perfect sport to match your vibe this spring at this Calgary club

It’s time to kick into action!

The Calgary Sport & Social Club is now accepting registrations for the 2025 spring season. There are over 20 sports ready for you to take part in, ranging from classics like volleyball to new crazes like pickleball.

Unsure of which sport is for you? Here are some suggestions for which sports you might like based on your personality.

Sporting newbies

Not super comfortable on the field yet? Don’t know the difference between a home run and a three-pointer? Don’t sweat it! The Calgary Sport & Social Club’s recreational sports are all about fun, meeting new people, and trying new things — with lots of activities for all skill and fitness levels.

Take it easy with cornhole or take aim at a relaxing sport like darts. There’s also lower-impact sports like Lawn Bowling and even a Simulator Golf league so you can practice your swing before the outdoor season arrives.

Want dedicated instruction before getting out there? There are also Learn to Play programs for golf, pickleball, tennis, and volleyball.

Social butterflies

If you crave the team aspects of sports, there are plenty of leagues out there for you to spread your wings and flutter.

Spend your fitness time with a low-stakes game of five-pin bowling, kickball, beach volleyball, slo-pitch, or dodgeball. The best part about team sports is that you can sign up as an individual or with an existing team — so you can make new friends or play with old ones.

Thrill-seekers

Sports are all about action-packed moments, so go for the gold and sign up for something that’ll get your heart pumping. Whether that’s hitting the field to play some soccer, slam dunking your way to the top in basketball, or you want to go solo in a fast-paced game of squash, you can get your competitive fix in a fun and friendly environment.

For those who want to try something a little different, the Calgary Sports Club has unique leagues to indulge your curiosity. Learn a cool new sport like futsal or spikeball, which pull from different aspects of games you might be familiar with in a fun and interesting way.

Win or lose, you can still grab a drink with your competition at one of the sponsored bars you get access to as part of your Sport & Social Club Player Perks.

Old souls

As one of our greatest philosophers once said: Age is just a number! Just because you might not be as limber as you once were, doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t enjoy all the benefits of recreational sports.

Masters leagues are specifically designed for people over the age of 40 and emphasize putting fun first. With sports like Pickleball, Basketball, Ball Hockey, Outdoor Soccer, and Slo-Pitch, there’s something for everyone of a certain age. This is perfect for those looking to get back into the sports they love, or are sports-curious but intimidated competing with 18-year-olds.

The mix-and-matchers

Don’t settle for just one sport! Try your hand at a bevy of different activities through the Multi-Sport league — where you play a new team sport each week. For a less competitive but still exploratory experience, the Yard Games tournament sets you up to play every week with games like ladder golf, KanJam, cornhole, and more.

The 2025 spring season is before us, with the registration deadline for Indoor sports being March 19 and outdoor sports being April 2. So sign up for your new favourite sporty hobby at Calgary Sport & Social Club today!
