Here are just a few splash parks, waterparks, swimming holes and more that you can visit this week – just don’t forget to bring your sunscreen!

WATER PARKS

SYLVAN LAKE AQUA SPLASH

Located in Sylvan Lake – this Aqua Splash isn’t your run-of-the-mill waterpark. It’s better described as an obstacle course but don’t let that deter you! This giant inflatable attraction is a ton of fun – so make sure you check it out this summer.

Where: 5104 Lakeshore Drive Sylvan Lake, Alberta
Time: 11 am – 8 pm
Cost: $17.50+

DISCOVERY CANYON

Featuring tube slides, a beach and a golf course (unrelated, but still fun), Discovery Canyon is the perfect place to escape the sun. Located in Red Deer, this FREE destination is definitely worth checking out – unless you’re not a fan of crowds. This one gets pretty busy, friends!

Where: 3800 River Bend Drive Red Deer County, Alberta
Time: 11 am – 7 pm
Cost: $6 tube rentals

SWIMMING HOLES

SANDY BEACH

Sandy Beach is one of Calgary’s most popular natural ‘beaches’ (if you want to call it that). Though it certainly doesn’t precede its name, it is still a really great place to go on a hotter day. Bring the dog, the kids, a few snacks, and/or your friends and you’ve got it made!

Where: 4500 14a St SW, Calgary

GRIFFITH WOODS

Taking a walk around Griffith Woods? Bring a swimsuit! Whether you go for the day or just to cool down, this is a fantastic spot to check out on a hotter day. It’s quiet (because it’s practically unknown by those who don’t live in the area), it’s relatively pretty clean and it’s actually gorgeous despite it being within city limits. Check it out!

Where: 160 Discovery Ridge Blvd SW, Calgary

PEARCE ESTATE PARK

Rock beaches have a bad rep, but we promise this one is worth visiting. Located in Calgary city limits, Pearce Estate Park actually has a few little spots where slower water has pooled just enough to cool off on a hot day. Can you get in a full backstroke? Not really no, but it’s close, it’s fun and it’s the Bow!

Where: 1440 17A Street SE, Calgary

SPRAY PARKS

WEST CONFEDERATION PARK

Where: 2020 Chicoutimi DR N.W., parking lot located off 19 St. & Chicoutimi Dr. N.W.

PRAIRIE WINDS PARK

Where: 223 Castleridge Blvd. N.E.

ROTARY PARK

Where: 617 1 St. N.E.

SOUTH GLENMORE PARK

Where: 90 Ave. & 24 St. S.W.

VALLEYVIEW PARK

Where: 28 St. & 30 Ave. S.E.

SOMERSET PARK

Where: 999 Somerset Dr. S.W.

BEACHES

ROCHON SANDS PROVINCIAL PARK BEACH

From swimming, canoeing, sailing, and windsurfing to fishing and birdwatching, Rochon Sands (located on Buffalo Lake) really has it all. Whether you’re camping or just hanging out for the day, you’re practically guaranteed a good time, no matter how you choose to spend it. It also certainly doesn’t hurt that there’s a bomb ice cream shop nearby as well.

Where: 1 Bay View St, Rochon Sands, AB

EBELING BEACH

As one of the most popular beaches in the province, we suggest you head to this one early in the morning. Located on the edge of Gull Lake, Ebeling is pretty close to a variety of restaurants, shops, and hotels, which is super convenient if you plan on spending the entire day out there.

Where: Directions here

And there you have it. Swimming holes, pools and waterparks in and around Calgary that you have to check out this summer! Which one will you check out first? It’s going to be a tough call!
