Ready to ring in 2026 in style? All of the city of Calgary is invited to celebrate with a dazzling fireworks show, live entertainment, and more fun at Eau Claire Plaza and Prince’s Island Park on Wednesday, Dec. 31.
Our city’s newly elected mayor, Jeromy Farkas, says it’s an opportunity to “celebrate each other and all our achievements as a city,” and we certainly agree.
Even though 2026 feels extremely futuristic, we’re ready to take it all in stride with this big party at two of Calgary’s most iconic public spaces. Family-friendly fun will take over Prince’s Island Park and Eau Claire Plaza after 8 p.m., with interactive activities, live entertainment, local food trucks, and a skating and dance party with a live DJ.
Ring the bell on a new season in Calgary — here’s all you need to know about this upcoming New Year’s Eve bash!
Prepare to sing “Auld Lang Syne” when the clock strikes midnight on Dec. 31, signalling the start of a new year here in our lovely prairie city.
To mark the occasion, our newly elected mayor is throwing a big ‘ol new year’s bash at Prince’s Island Park in downtown Calgary, and the nearby Eau Claire Plaza, which was unveiled to the public this year. There’s probably no better way to celebrate than in two of Calgary’s most iconic spaces, home of longstanding music festivals like Oxford Stomp, cultural events like Calgary Pride, and a whole host of flora and fauna.
“On New Year’s Eve, I welcome all Calgarians to celebrate each other and all our achievements as a city,” said Mayor Jeromy Farkas in a press release. “Whether you’re skating, dancing or enjoying the fireworks with family and friends, this is our chance to greet 2026 with joy, gratitude and a sense of community.”
Prince’s Island Park is surrounded by a beautiful lagoon, tall trees, and the nearby Peace Bridge. It’s an important central location along the Bow River in Calgary, and the perfect setting to celebrate a harmonious new year.
There’s a packed lineup of scheduled events, including food trucks, fire pits, family-friendly games, stilt walkers and a fire dragon parade. It all reaches its peak when the clock strikes midnight, and a dazzling fireworks show launches from Prince’s Island Park, perfectly timed to music on CJSW 90.9FM. You can give your loved ones a smooch and enjoy the show from both celebration sites, or watch from the comfort of home via a City of Calgary livestream.
Get ready to kick it into high gear for the new year. 2026 awaits.
