There’s a month-long halloween festival happening in Metro Vancouver with over 18 spook-tacular events

How does a playground of all things spooky sound? Well, we’ve got a treat for you! The Burnaby Halloween Festival is set to cast its enchanting spell, offering a month-long extravaganza with over 18 spine-tingling events that will send shivers down your spine.

From record-breaking pumpkin displays to a murder mystery dinner party, there’s no shortage of frightful festivities to get you in the mood in time for Halloween’s approaching eve. In addition to its stacked event schedule, the festival is located in the heart of Burnaby – just a short skytrain or bus or drive away from its neighbouring cities.

Here’s what to expect

Pumpkins After Dark

Canada’s award-winning Halloween event is coming to Burnaby! Pumpkins After Dark has over 6,000 pumpkins on display, which makes for great inspiration for your own pumpkin masterpieces. Walk through an illuminated path of gourd-eous pumpkin art—a must-see attraction that the whole family will enjoy!

Spooky flicks on the big screen

Now let’s talk cinema. If you’re like us, you’re a fan of jump scares and cheesy Scream flicks. And what better way to get your scary-movie fix than diving into the feature films at this year’s Vancouver Horror Show Film Festival: Burnaby Edition? The 2023 lineup will include six feature-length films, 41 short films – plus, screenplay competitions, industry panels and more.

Free firework shows

But the thrills don’t end there! Mark your calendars for October 27th, cozy up with your favourite fall drink and head to Central Park for the Central Spark fireworks extravaganza! And there’s more than just fireworks! The event has an enchanting corn maze, carnival games, food trucks, live entertainment and more. A dull moment? Not here.

A candle-lit murder mystery dinner

This ‘whodunit’ experience will be a journey for both your tastebuds and detective skills. Enjoy a three-course meal while unraveling a Roaring 20s-themed murder mystery. This Candlelit Crime Murder Mystery will have your senses on alert while you enjoy live entertainment, alluring prizes and cryptic clues. Plus, it’s all for a good cause – the funds from the silent auction go to the Burnaby Hospital Foundation!

Family-friendly fun

And that’s not all! If you’re on the lookout for family fun, you’re in luck. The festival also has a variety of safe and fun events for all ages. Put your creative skills to work for the neighbourhood decorating contest, save room for the pie-eating contest or lace (and dress) up for the Monster Dash 5k run.

If you’re ready to get into the spooky spirit, head over to the festival website for all the deets. A hauntingly-good time awaits!
