This BC park is known for its warm, turquoise waters & islands to explore

If you’re up for an adventure and a longer trek from Vancouver, an unbelievable summer destination awaits in northern BC. Carved by ancient glaciers 20,000 years ago, Tā Ch’ilā / Boya Lake Park is about a 12-hour drive from Vancouver, but its unusually warm, aqua-blue waters and scenery make it well worth the trip.

The crystal-clear lake is also home to countless bays and islands, perfect to explore via kayak or canoe. Best of all? Boya Lake is one of the few lakes in the north that is warm enough for swimming!

For hikers, the surrounding Liard Plain has endless ridges, elongated hills (drumlins), and unique natural features to check out. Mountain goats and caribou roam the Horseranch Range, which can be accessed via one of the park’s interpretative walking trails.
