This Ontario park is home to a historic 100-metre rock & three stunning natural beaches

Your next adventure awaits and luckily, Ontario is full of them. Nature seekers and hike enthusiasts will love our next Ontario park find. Hit the road and set your GPS to Bon Echo Provincial Park, home to a jaw-dropping 100-metre-high cliff and three natural beaches. Here’s what to know.

Located north of Kingston, Ontario, about a three-hour drive northeast of Toronto is Bon Echo Provincial Park.

Known for its Mazinaw Rock featuring over 260 Indigenous pictographs – Canada’s largest visible collection, this Ontario Park is an adventure seekers’ paradise.

There are several activities you can partake in at Bon Echo such as boating on Mazinaw Lake, bird watching, biking along park roads, and canoeing down four exciting routes.

The canoeing spots include Kishkebus Canoe Route – a 21 km loop that “takes you past Indigenous pictographs to the still waters of the nature reserve on the east side of the park,” Joeperry and Pearson Lakes, Mazinaw Lake and the five-day Mississippi River Canoe Route with 17 portages.

Go on a little fishing adventure, and hike on one of their many routes like Cliff Top Trail which is only accessible by water (canoe and kayak rentals are available), High Pines Trail, Shield Trail, and Pet Exercise Trail.

Depending on which one you choose, they run from 1 km in length to 17 km in length.

Now after a lengthy excursion, you’ll want to cool off and dip your toes in some nice, refreshing water. Pick from one of the three natural sand beaches.

“The Main Beach is located in Lower Mazinaw Lake, South Beach is located in the day use area, and North Beach is in Sawmill Bay campground,” according to Ontario Parks.

Ontario Parks recently reduced the maximum length of stay at select parks between July 1 and the Saturday of the Labour Day long weekend. Bon Echo is one of the parks with a maximum seven-night stay during the busy season.
