This BC park has unique sandstone formations & a 4 km ridge with island views

Known for its namesake 4 km ridge that’s raised 328 metres above sea level, Bodega Ridge Park is one of BC’s most unique island adventures. With stunning views over hundreds of Gulf Islands and islets, the journey to the top of the ridge is well worth it – as is exploring the rest of Galiano Island!

While the provincial park is day-use only, there are plenty of summertime adventures to be had at this remarkable spot. Its high cliffs are home to bald eagles, peregrine falcons, and even turkey vultures – which makes for some exciting birdwatching, if you ask us.

As there are no developed facilities onsite, Bodega Ridge is a great place to add to your Galiano Island itinerary if you want to be fully immersed in nature.

The 4 km trail to the top is accessible via Cottage Way, where hikers are led uphill through a forested area along the cliff edge. All in all, the top is about a 30-minute hike – perfect for a pre or post-lunch workout!

From the top, hikers can enjoy spectacular island and mountain vistas, with views of the Trincomali Channel, Vancouver Island, and the Strait of Georgia. Pretty much the epitome of “postcard-worthy!”

While you’re at it, you may as well hop to the more challenging Mount Galiano Trail or popular Bluff Loops Trail during your visit – or head to Montague Harbour Marine Park for more camping and swimming options!

Galiano Island can be reached via a 55-minute ferry from the Tsawwassen terminal.
