These are the best Toronto museums to visit on a gloomy day

During a recent trip away, I made some time to check out a museum in the city I was visiting and was blown away by the things I learned, the stories I heard, and the pieces of history I saw. It got me thinking, why haven’t I spent more time at the museums in my own city? So, I got to work researching and asking around, and these are the ones I have deemed as the best and worth the subway ride.

The ROM

As Canada’s largest museum and the most frequented in Toronto, it goes without saying that The ROM is a must-visit.

The space is home to 18 million artworks, artifacts, and specimens from around the globe.

Want to save some money? Admission is free on the third Tuesday evening of every month.

Where: 100 Queen’s Park

Bata Shoe Museum

This one I have been to before, and among the people I asked, it was also a fan favourite.

It’s all in the name as this museum takes you on a journey through history, with the focus being on one thing: shoes.

It’s seriously so cool, and you’ll learn a ton.

Where: 327 Bloor St. W.

The AGO

If you love art, then the AGO is worth a visit for sure. Everyone I know who has gone has described the inside of the building as stunning as all of the art.

The AGO also offers adult art classes in painting, bookbinding, photography, art as therapy, and much more. Pretty cool!

Where: 317 Dundas St. W.

The Hockey Hall of Fame

Even if you’re not a sports lover, the Hockey Hall of Fame is something everyone should see at least once.

Not only is this museum super interactive, but you’re sure to learn a ton as the exhibits bring history to life through really great storytelling.

Where: 30 Yonge St.

The ultimate challenge would be attempting to hit up all four of these in one weekend, and with the incoming cold weather, I don’t think it’s actually a bad idea!
