Can you believe we’re already at the second weekend of August? Late summer is well underway. Between music, eats, festivals, and art, there’s plenty to check out. Here are 10 of the best things to do in Seattle this weekend.

Day In Day Out Festival

Headliners include The National, Mitski, and Mac Demarco. You’ll also be able to see artists like Japanese Breakfast, JPEGMAFIA, Cherry Glazer, and more! Alongside performing artists, you’ll also be able to catch an assortment of DJ sets. Of course, there will also be food trucks and tents.

Rent a hot tub boat

It may still be warm in Seattle but imagine floating Lake Union in true warm. The lake has two different hot tub boat rental companies. You can’t go wrong with either and they both have their own unique offerings.

Enjoy a real diversity of creativity as screenwriters from Hedgebrook‘s illustrious alumnae community bring their work for presentation at the inaugural Hedgebrook Screenwriters Showcase. Who knows, you might just find some inspiration.

Try a wine subscription

Local natural wine shop and bar La Dive actually offers a monthly wine subscription! When you sign up you can choose between three different subscription options. The first option is two bottles a month for $42, then four bottles a month for $84, or six bottles a month for $120.

Watch the Perseids

The Perseid meteor shower is back and going strong! While we’re not at peak dates yet, there are still plenty of chances to see shooting stars. Of course, we made a list of some of the best places to view the phenomenon in and around the city.

Movies at Marymoor

Some of this year’s movie titles include classics like Labyrinth, Back to the Future, and Napolean Dynamite. And with an early lineup that good, you know the rest of the summer will be even better. As these showings are popular be sure to buy your tickets in advance as they do sell out.

Maris Farms Sunflower Days

Whether you want to come to relax and see the flowers for an hour or spend the whole day on the farm, there’s plenty to do. It’s a great opportunity to snap some pics for your social feeds and of course to bring home some beautiful, locally grown blooms. So what are you waiting for?

Dancing ‘Til Dusk

Free dance lessons? Sign us up! You can enjoy free lessons and live bands in Seneca Plaza at Freeway Park this month. All you have to do is show up.

Ruth E. Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design at MoPOP

At the exhibition, you’ll be able to see more than 60 costumes designed by Academy Award-winning designer Ruth E. Carter. You’ll not only get to see the costumes but also her vision and the in-depth process she uses for each project. Some of the featured costumes come from films like Black Panther, Roots, Do the Right Thing, Selma, Malcolm X, and more.

SPL & SAL Summer Book Bingo

This year’s Book Bingo themes include “Outside Your Comfort Zone,” “Banned or Challenged Book,” “Blue Cover,” and “Sci-fi or Fantasy by a BIPOC Author.” You can also fill in squares for “Read Outside,” “Set Somewhere You’d Like to Visit,” “Set South of the Equator” and much more. It’s the perfect chance to read something new!
