Here’s a first look at when Washington’s best ski hills open

Ski season is here! Some of Washington’s best ski hills are opening this weekend, while some are still waiting on more snow. So in the spirit of early planning, we’re here to give you some details and help you think ahead.

Here’s a first look at when you’ll be able to ski Washington’s best slopes and how much it costs.

Crystal Mountain

Let’s start with a bang, Crystal Mountain is Washington’s biggest ski area and is located just 2 hours from Seattle. You can expect classic slopes as well as variety and up close and personal views of Mount Rainier. Not to mention you can stay overnight and enjoy eats while you’re exploring the mountain resort.

When: Friday, December 1st

Cost: $99+

Mission Ridge Ski & Board Resort

Looking for pow? Mission Ridge might just be one of your best bets. It’s known for lighter and drier snow as well as the unique experience of skiing while looking over the desert below. It’s a smaller resort but that means lines are shorter and seriously where else can you ski above the desert?

When: Friday, December 1st
Where: 7500 Mission Ridge Rd, Wenatchee, WA
Cost: Lift ticket prices $79-$699

Mount Baker Ski Area

Mount Baker is known for snow and lots of it. It’s home to slopes for hardcore ski enthusiasts and areas for folks not faint of heart. It’s also a great opportunity to ski within a National Forest. While season passes are sold out, you can still score daily lift tickets to enjoy this beloved and unique ski area.

When: Projected opening day between Thanksgiving and mid December
Where: Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest
Cost: Lift tickets $91.20

Stevens Pass

This is a beloved local spot for many especially if you grew up in the Seattle area. It was once known for being full of ski bums but these days it’s developed quite a bit. That being said, it still has some great intermediate and advanced runs that you’re sure to love. Just keep in mind that parking is pretty limited.

When: Saturday, December 2nd
Where: Summit Stevens Pass, 93001 US Hwy 2, Skykomish, WA
Cost: $98-$969

The Summit at Snoqualmie / Alpental

This is the spot to learn to ski and board! Really, it’s what Alpental is known for. Beyond that, it’s a great place for family-friendly skiing and they have a snow tubing center as well. If that’s not enough for you it’s also home to the state’s largest night skiing area which is perfect for after-work shreds.

Where: 1001 State Route 906, Snoqualmie Pass, WA
Cost: $43-$799

White Pass

Don’t sleep on White Pass, it’s popular with South Sound residents but it could be popular with Seattleites as well. It boasts a starting elevation of 4500 feet and amazing views of Mount Rainier. You shouldn’t face a ton of lines and you can also check out the inn and Nordic Center.

When: December 2nd for pass holders

Hurricane Ridge Ski and Snowboard Area

Skiing in Olympic National Park? Sign us up! With a summit elevation of 5,240 feet, Hurricane Ridge is a spectacular spot for winter recreation and activities. You’ll find superb groomed areas and steeps, bowls, and glades for the advanced skier or snowboarder.

When: Normal opening date first or second week of December
Where: Olympic National Park
Cost: $57-$699
