Calgary has no shortage of walkable neighbourhoods. But just outside the innermost part of the city, you’ll find the Beltline, an urban hub buzzing with things to do, see, and experience.
A mix of modern highrises and heritage buildings, art-filled alleys and bustling streets, this YYC hotspot makes for a perfect daytime stroll or nighttime celebration.
New to the area and aren’t sure where to go? Here’s your guide to all the best places to shop, drink, eat, and hang out.
Whether it’s clothes or accessories, the Beltline has got it all.
Inspired by the shared astrological sign of the founders, Leo is a contemporary boutique that has focused on modern minimalism and independent designers since 1997.
Not far from here, you’ll also find Steeling Home, which is part lifestyle shop, part gallery that has been selling local goods since 1993.
From knick-knacks to dresses, jewellery, and decor, you might just walk away with something you didn’t know you needed!
Other recommendations:
Need a pick-me-up? Check out Caffe Beano, an independent coffee shop that has been a hotspot for over 30 years.
If, of course, you need something to sink your teeth into, they’ve also got breakfast and baked goods.
In addition, you can check out Good Trade Coffee Company, a spot that works directly with farmers and educators in Colombia.
Other recommendations:
Hungry? The Beltline is the place to be if you’re feeling peckish.
If you’re craving comfort food with a twist, Clive Burger serves up locally raised retro-style beef burgers, fries, and shakes unlike anywhere else in the city.
If you’ve got some time to spare, we’d also recommend Ten Foot Henry, an all-day, veggie-forward restaurant with an easy-to-share menu, fantastic drinks, and ambient decor.
Other recommendations:
For those who are looking for a good night out, there’s no place like the Beltline.
For award-winning cocktails, dim lighting, and spirit-forward drinks that will impress your friends, check out Proof.
For a laid-back evening, or to enjoy a cold beer on a hot day patio-style, snag a spot at The Ship and Anchor.
Other recommendations:
Calgary’s Beltline is a cultural playground with a much to experience, especially in the summertime.
Wander Central Memorial Park and take photos by the fountain, admire the murals painted during the Bump Festival, or catch a flick at the Globe Cinema.
There’s also the Lougheed House, a historical mansion with a beautiful garden, and plenty of wellness facilities like the Home Lifestyle Club, where you can take a number of classes.
