BC Ferries just launched a new booking app & here’s how it works

Guess what, Vancouver? BC Ferries just launched a new app for iOS and Android that will make catching the ferry or planning your next trip that much easier. Passengers can check current operating schedules, book a ferry, manage their trips, and more – all in one place.

“The app is about giving customers the tools needed to enhance their trip-planning experience through their mobile device,” said Janet Carson, vice president of marketing and customer experience. “The BC Ferries app is the latest enhancement to our online services following the rollout of the new website in 2020 and a new Saver fare structure in 2021.”

On the app, passengers can see current conditions on route sailing status, as well as estimated deck space – which means you’ll know right away how busy a trip could be.

As well, you can view daily and seasonal schedules for a seamless trip planning process, no matter which stage you’re in.

Here are all the functions you can now do via the app:

  • Save travel details and preferences for quick access to current schedules
  • Check current sailing conditions
  • Make and manage bookings, including an Express booking feature for the next available sailing
  • View daily and seasonal schedules
  • Seamless check-in via booking barcode
  • Receive optional push notifications for upcoming sailing reminders & service updates

Note that BC Ferries plans to add even more features and functionality based on feedback from customers.

So if you’re ready to move from the BC Ferries website to your phone, you can now download the app through the App Store or Google Play Store.
