This Bachelor in Paradise Canada star dished on what it’s like behind the scenes

With another finale of Bachelor In Paradise Canada live and streaming, cast members like first-time contestant Meagan Morris, are sharing their experiences on the wild summer reality series.

Known for its twists, surprise entrances and drama, the in-between season spinoff is a favourite among fans, with the Canadian variety combining both familiar faces and new singles to the dating pool.

While this can’t be said for most, Morris’s loved story developed over an entire season and although she and on-screen partner, Garrett Aida, broke up after filming, she’s since found someone new and is focused on the future but not without reflecting on her time at the beach.

“Right when I walked on to Paradise I didn’t know exactly at what point I was going to be entering into the show, so I didn’t know who knew each other at this point – I had just previously seen some of the seasons,” she told Curiocity.

“It was just very overwhelming, I just didn’t know exactly what to expect. I was super excited to meet a lot of people – it was nerve-wracking for the first 5 to 10 minutes and then you get a welcome cocktail in you so you can start having proper conversations and let the nerves die down.”

Like us – she was a fan of the show, admitting she was excited to see Lisa and Joey from previous seasons and (like most skeptical viewers) even questioned whether or not things would be written out for her.

“I really didn’t know what it would be like to be a contestant being on a reality show, so I assumed that there might have been a script or some type of direction.”

“What I learned is that you kind of just get to experience it for the first time in real-time,” she explained, adding that contrary to popular belief they don’t guide you into conversations, but rather, pull you from them for interviews.

As one can imagine, this was tough when emotions are high, time is flying and you’re trying to get to navigate a relationship with someone. As a wise person once said – communication is key!

“I think watching myself on television was interesting to see. Now that I’m in a great relationship after the show, I’ve learnt about my communication skills.”

“I think I wasn’t as comfortable as I thought that I was, you know, pouring your heart out. I think maybe the cameras did affect the way that I truly wanted to share my feelings and although I thought I was doing it to the best of my ability – watching it back, I could see moments where I felt a little bit uncomfortable or just wasn’t truly able to open up as much as I would’ve liked to.”

Luckily all is well that ends well with Meagan even sharing some advice for future cast members.

“You have no idea what’s going to happen.”

“Every action causes a reaction and everything just plays out the way that it’s supposed to. My best piece of advice is to have no expectations. Go in there with an open mind and if you last three days, two weeks, if you make it until the end, you take such a beautiful experience away from it.”
