A local community in Calgary will be aglitter with a free parade of lights

For a decade, the Auburn Bay Community Association has kicked off the festive season with an annual parade of lights, complete with decadent holiday floats.

This weekend, the community will be aglitter once again when the Parade of Lights returns down by the Bay. Join the Auburn Bay Community Association as they kick off the holiday season and bring residents together with a parade of festive floats throughout the community. Complimentary hot chocolate will also be available to spectators along the parade route.

Check out what else to know about this free, fun, and festive holiday treat!

What to expect

Since 2005, the Auburn Bay Community Association has been bringing holiday cheer to their community with the annual Parade of Lights.

The parade will leave Auburn House at 5 p.m. sharp and travel west on Auburn Bay Boulevard, taking approximately 90 minutes to return.

There will be complimentary hot chocolate handed out to visitors stationed along the parade route, and there’s bound to be tons of fabulous, glowing lights.

It’ll be a completely free event, but spectators are asked to comply with the volunteers who keep everything running smoothly. The festival is also looking to recruit volunteers. If you want to give back to the community for the holidays, this is your chance.

This fantastic lake community is beloved by local families and their kids. And this winter, Auburn Bay will be glowing even brighter with the 10th annual Parade of Lights.

Road closures and parking bans

If you’re travelling to Auburn Bay from an outlying community, you’ll want to know about the parking bands and road closures they’ll have in place for the parade. They’ll be in effect throughout the community for the Parade of Lights, and police will be present at key intersections to assist with routing traffic.

Parade marshals along the route will also help ensure everyone’s safety. Traffic will remain open for travel in the opposite direction of the parade.

Don’t forget to bring your warm clothes, a thermos of tea or hot chocolate, and some spirited cheer to this dazzling parade. We’ll see you there!
