A Banksy exhibition just opened in Edmonton and it will blow you away

The art from the famous street artist Banksy has made its way over to Edmonton.

This stunning street art exhibition showcases the Art of Banksy. Over 200 pieces are displayed, with original art, prints, photos, sculptures, and much more. For a limited time, in the heart of Edmonton, you can experience the most comprehensive Banksy art exhibition around the world.

I was lucky enough to get an invite to visit before the exhibition opened to the public. Let me say, it will blow you away.

What to expect

The first floor of the exhibition walks you through the history of Banksy, as well as the timeline spanning across the main wall. It’s detailed, and I learned a lot more about the artist than I knew before. It was the perfect amount of information, neither overwhelming nor detracting from the art itself.

After you are taken through the history, the first floor is all about Banksy’s Dismaland.

Dismaland is Banksy’s dystopian take on amusement parks. This installation takes you through many of the pieces that tell the satirical view of consumerism.

There’s a stunning projected display on the main floor, and before you get to it, you’re taken through an artsy metal detector!

And onto the second floor…

The second floor of the exhibition takes you through more of the interactive parts of the show, showcasing more sculptures than the first.

This is where you can take a step into the Infinity Room. There’s a room, full of mirrors, with a projection playing, and it’s the best thing I experienced at the exhibition. I did not want to leave that room, and I quite literally got dragged by my girlfriend out of there so we could keep exploring.

There are more rooms to discover, which are interactive, but the Infinity Room has to be my personal favourite by far.

During your time on the second floor, you’ll also notice the copious number of monkeys. There are more than a few to count, even including this sculpture of a hotel butler monkey. This recognizable motif in Banksy’s art is one of the most famous, so it only makes sense that a large portion of the second floor is dedicated to it.

Once you’ve discovered everything on the first and second floors, you can also spray paint Banksy’s iconic art on your own tee at the end of the experience if you purchase a premium ticket.

There’s also a graffiti wall, which you can participate in on the main floor, just near the spray painting area. When you visit the exhibition, don’t forget to leave your mark!
