Attention, travellers! If you’ve been on the edge of your seat for bus or train tickets to Washington and Oregon, the wait is finally over. Amtrak Cascades is officially back in pre-pandemic swing this March, and they’re resuming round-trip service from Vancouver to Portland!
While Amtrak already resumed service between Vancouver and Seattle back in September, it has been quite a while since passengers could travel to cities in Oregon.

According to a recent press release, the railway is on track to restore Amtrak Cascades service in the Pacific Northwest to “pre-pandemic levels,” a move that U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell has been pushing for since May of last year.
“I’m thankful that Amtrak is finally on the path to fully restoring service in the Pacific Northwest. I will work to make sure Amtrak meets its commitment to restore additional service to Vancouver B.C. by March 7th and add two trips this fall,” says Senator Cantwell.
Currently, there are southbound trains from Vancouver to Bellingham, Mount Vernon, Everett, and Seattle every day in the morning and evening. There is additional southbound service from Seattle to multiple cities in Oregon, including Portland, but travellers from Vancouver will have to transfer and pay for an additional ticket.

So if you’re planning a weekend trip sometime soon, take a look at the southbound and northbound schedules and plan accordingly. And mark your calendars for March 7th for an even more convenient trip between Vancouver and Oregon!
