Big news, Vancouver! Amazon has shared the latest developments at its Tech Hubs in Toronto and Vancouver, and both cities are getting new office space for over 8,500 corporate and tech employees.
In Vancouver, this includes a new 43,000-square-foot atrium at The Post, where more than 4,500 Amazon employees already work.
The space is Amazon Canada’s newest office, and is open as of Thursday, September 5th, 2024.
The new atrium has an open floor plan, 22-foot-high ceilings, lots of light, and is the ideal spot for Amazon employees to come together and collaborate.
The space includes a cafe, event venue, break-out areas, and meeting rooms, all designed by B+H Architects.
The atrium also contains a nod to the building’s history as Vancouver’s Main Post Office in the form of an 18-foot mural resembling a pixelated postage stamp, with individual mailbox doors that date back to the building’s 1960s origin.
What’s more, the restoration of the original architecture and reuse of the building’s central podium has saved nearly 25,000 tonnes of carbon and eliminated significant construction waste from local landfills.
As the sole corporate tenant at The Post, Amazon also has plans to open in the North Tower in 2026, so stay tuned for more info on that as it comes.
