Amazon in the headlines again? How surprising. But this time it is a pretty big deal because Amazon has officially outnumbered Boeing to become Washington’s largest employer. That being said, we’re kind of surprised that this is just happening now, we kind of thought it’d been that way for a while.
This happened for a few reasons. Frankly, Amazon is a giant now, things look a lot different than they did 26 years ago in Bezos’ garage. And on that note, the company has thrived during the pandemic. On the flip side, Boeing hasn’t done so well. After all, the whole airline industry has pretty much tanked.

Again, we think this would have happened regardless. After all, Boeing has been laying off people for a bit and is subject to boom and bust cycles. With all that in mind, this is really just a bigger view of the rapidly changing culture and future of Seattle. And we’ll let you decide what you think about it.
