Here are all the Vancouver beaches and parks where drinking is permitted this summer

The sun is shining and patio season is upon us, which means we’re all spending a lot more time outdoors in Vancouver. The good news? Beachgoers will once again be able to drink at select beaches across the city this summer, thanks to the Alcohol on Beaches pilot program.

Approved by the City Council on Tuesday, May 7th following a Vancouver Park Board meeting the day before, the program allows beach visitors to consume alcoholic beverages between the hours of 11 am and 9 pm.

According to the City Council, last year’s “disorderly behaviour” at English Bay and “increased levels of garbage at beach sites” have led to a revised program, which includes additional VPD members and Park Rangers.

With that said, from June 1st to September 30th, adults over the age of 10 will be allowed to consume alcohol at the following beaches:

  • Jericho Beach
  • Spanish Banks
  • Locarno Beach
  • Second Beach (Stanley Park)
  • Kitsilano Beach
  • John Hendry / Trout Lake Beach
  • New Brighton Beach
