A free esports and gaming convention is coming to Edmonton this month

Scratch whatever plans you have for the family day weekend. Because we’ve got better ones for you and your family. A huge esports and video game convention is about to hit the town— Alberta Esports Expo. And it’s free!

The convention will take place at the Edmonton EXPO Centre on Saturday, February 18th and Sunday, February 19th, 2023. And the timing couldn’t have been better, given that the convention aims to bring together families, educators and gaming and esports of all ages and skill levels.

The expo was intentionally designed to be an experience that anyone can enjoy regardless of skill level or background. Not surprising then that the family-friendly edutainment event will feature fun activities for all. Expect competitive tournaments, learn-to-play areas, panels and a lot more.

Organized by the Alberta Esports Association, the federally-funded exhibition is focused on raising awareness about the esports industry in Alberta. And also educate people on the scope of the industry and highlight local vendors impacted by the growth of the industry.

“This is a major opportunity for raising awareness and educating the public about the esports industry in Alberta, especially since this is the first federally-funded esports event to occur in the country,” says CK Dhaliwal, Business Development Manager for the Alberta Esports Association.

He further adds, “It’s giving the public a chance to learn about and participate in one of the fastest-growing industries worldwide.”

Though the expo is free, you do require tickets to enter. You can grab your free tickets from their website below.
