Sunshine Village is getting a new luxury chairlift this winter

While it is still summer outside, it’s not too early to think about winter adventures in Alberta! And this year, there’s something new to look forward to at Banff Sunshine Village.

There will soon be a new luxury chairlift in town!

According to Sunshine Village, it is replacing its Angel Express with its first “high-speed, 6-passanger luxury chairlift.”

“The new Super Angel is set to soar skiers and riders into the Rockies this coming winter 2024/25,” they state.

“Banff Sunshine Village introduced their first heated, bubble chairlift in 2014, Teepee Town LX, making Banff Sunshine Village home to 2 heated chairlifts from its fleet of 9 totaling chairs.”

The new chairlift will have cozy bucket seats, footrests, and a stylish yellow bubble cover. “In collaboration with Leitner-Poma, the Super Angel will feature the latest EVO premium technology, which eliminates the traditional gearbox for a smoother, faster and quieter ride,” the Village adds.

Last season, the iconic quad Angel Express was retired on May 12th, 2024. It was originally built in the 1960’s, and back in 1988, Sunshine Village introduced its first high-speed quad chair.

It was “the game-changer of the Canadian Rockies, as one of the first high-speed chairs in Canada, setting a new standard for the ski and snowboard industry in North America.”

So get ready for a new chairlift in town!
