If the sight of rain in the weather forecast has you plotting your next beach getaway, there’s some good news for Vancouver travellers from Air Canada.
Canada’s largest airline has announced Mazatlán, Mexico, as a new destination from YVR starting this fall.
The new seasonal flight will run daily from Dec. 15, 2026, through April 9, 2027. It is joining a trio of new non-stop flights in the airline’s significant expansion to sun markets from the country’s west coast.
“We are further cementing Air Canada’s global network as one of the most far-reaching from the North American continent,” said Mark Galardo, executive vice-president at Air Canada.
The airline is also adding three new non-stop routes starting this December. They include:
The routes are part of a broader expansion that includes added service to destinations across Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America, along with new routes to the Canary Islands and cities including Santo Domingo and Mérida.
The airline recently announced that the first of its updated Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft has entered service at Air Canada Rouge. This marks a milestone in the low-cost carrier’s cabin renewal program.
Canada’s flag carrier said that it will open a new Air Canada Rouge crew base in Vancouver in a move that it says will increase “the options for leisure and sun destination travel in Western Canada.”
According to the company, the fleet transition to updated Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft will allow most customers flying Air Canada Rouge leisure and sun routes across North America and the Caribbean to experience upgraded interiors.
Air Canada also recently opened its first cafe at YVR, described as a “premium grab-and-go lounge” for eligible customers in the domestic departures area. A second location is also in the works.
