These rentals in Vancouver are cheaper than average & available right now (PHOTOS)

It’s well-established that housing in Vancouver ain’t cheap – especially rentals. In fact, the average rent in the region has rebounded from December’s temporary “dip” to $2,257 per month, which is up $30 from last month. While affordable options are scarce, to say the least, these properties listed on Rentals.ca clock in at the average rent or below. So if you’re in the market for a new space to call home, here are some listings to consider.

1255 Pendrell Street: $2,199+/month

The Connaught Apartments on Pendrell Street are situated in one of Vancouver’s most popular neighbourhoods of West End. The building is low-rise and quiet, and includes an indoor pool, sundeck, and common area for all tenants to enjoy. Steps away are Sunset Beach and English Bay, as well as recreation facilities like the Aquatic Centre, food and retail on Denman Street, and plenty of parks and schools.

Oh, and new residents who sign a 13-month lease can get one month of rent for free!

2222 Bellevue Avenue: $2,149+/month

Located in West Van, the Villa Maris sits directly on the ocean above the sea wall on Bellevue Avenue. So if views are important to you, it doesn’t get much better than this. Fun fact: the luxury concrete high-rise is considered the second most important architectural landmark in West Vancouver, after Lions Gate Bridge. And as far as amenities go, the building features both an indoor and outdoor heated pool, a fitness room, a party/meeting room, and balconies on every suite.

New renters can take advantage of their two months of free rent promo when they sign a 14-month lease.

These studio apartments in South Granville offer some of the nicest floor plans we’ve seen for units of their size. Located near lots of great parks, schools, and cafes, this property is close to it all – Mount Pleasant and Kits are right next door, and downtown is just a bridge away. All the units have hardwood floors, in-suite laundry, bike storage, dishwashers, and balconies.

1644 Nelson Street: $1,640+/month

Next up is a frequent contender for one of the cheapest rentals in the city. Now, this apartment might not come with anything fancy or out of the box, but it’s a solid highrise in one of the most sought-after neighbourhoods in Vancouver. If location and access to food & shopping are your priority – then this is a great option.

8615 Laurel Street: $1,950+/month

And last but not least, we come to 8615 Laurel Street. With community garden plots, an indoor entertainment lounge, and bike storage, this spot is a great pick for those who want a place to call home for the long-term, and not just a place to crash. The Marpole building has a great contemporary vibe, is within walking distance of specialty food stores, cafes, and boutiques, and the majority of units also include a den.

Well, that’s a wrap on rentals for now, Vancouver! Happy apartment-hunting.
