Flower lovers, mark your calendars for mid-April, because that’s when Canada’s largest tulip festival is setting up shop for the season in Abbotsford!
Presented by Lakeland Flowers, the Abbotsford Tulip Festival marks the first of six months-worth of flower festivals to come. And with over 70 stunning tulip varieties lined across 27+ acres, this fest is poised to be quite the kick-off!
Guests in April and May can expect to find kilometres of scenic walking trails, rotating food trucks, live music nights, and much more.
“Initially, our plans were to host smaller crowds to enjoy the flower fields. After hearing how the crowds wished that Abbotsford still had a tulip festival, we decided to bring it back and planted tulips, winter canola, daffodils, blooming cover crops, hydrangea, peonies, lavender, and sunflowers,” says Nick Warmerdam, farmer and owner of Lakeland Flowers.

Challenged by the devasting floods in November of 2020, Lakeland Flowers was forced to delay its original spring opening in 2021. Despite the odds, the team was able to plant over 100 acres of tulips, sunflowers, and various other flowers to more than make up for lost time.
Following tulip season? Visitors can return to experience the other flower fests lined up for this year.
“We love seeing families and friends create memories at the farm. Visitors will be able to see the flowers from multiple angles,” says Warmerdam.
According to the release, online tickets will be available one week in advance with tiered pricing options for weekdays and weekends.
The Abbotsford Tulip Festival will be open from 6 am to 8 pm seven days a week starting April 14th and lasting until May 14th.
