A massive 79-storey tower is being planned for Toronto’s King Street West

An exciting new building could be decorating the city skyline soon. 212 King Street West is the latest Toronto development that could be making waves in the Entertainment and Financial Districts. The new building was just proposed and if it’s passed, it’ll be a 79-storey, mixed-use tower unlike any other spot in Toronto.

So 212 King Street West is the brainchild of development giants Dream Office REIT and Humbold Properties. It’s set to be located right at the corner of King and Simcoe (across the street from Roy Thomson Hall) and it’ll revitalize the community in new and exciting ways.

Here’s everything it’s got in store. Starting at the lowest level, this building’s atrium will have access to Toronto’s underground PATH. It’ll also serve as the lobby for the building, be equipped to host special events, and even have a public garden.

The base of the building will be made up of three preserved heritage buildings, which will have rooftop views of gorgeous nearby city attractions while maintaining their original charm.

Moving on up, the tower is also set to have 670,000 square feet of commercial real estate built-in. 660,000 square feet will be dedicated to office space, while 10,000 square feet will go to high-quality retail. This will be spread across multiple floors and will host approximately 6,000 new jobs.

Even further up, the building will be home to 588 housing units. The living space will be separated from the rest of the building with a rooftop terrace and residential amenities. Overall, it’s equipped to become home to around 900 tenants.

Other fabulous perks of the building include a restaurant and bar, plus a widened sidewalk for outdoor amenities and pedestrian circulation. On top of all that, it’s killer location just steps from places like the TIFF Bell Lightbox, Royal Alexandra Theatre, Roy Thomson Hall, and more will make the spot a surefire cultural hub in the city.
