While everyone was busy watching Jeff Bezos fly off into space, an Arlington company was finishing up something a whole lot cooler. Step aside Tesla, Renton company Eviation has successfully created a fully electric jet that could very well change the future of flight. Let’s give it up for the state as this is yet another huge win for technology and green futures.

For the time being, Eviation aircraft are designed for courier service. So with that in mind, DHL has placed an order for 12 jets and will be on the frontline of electric aircraft usage in the courier industry. Those 12 jets are set to take flight in 2024 and can each carry 2,500 pounds of cargo. Nifty right?

Well to make things even better, the jets could hold passengers which has “a large client betting on the technology” according to Kiro 7 News. Who could that client be? Boeing, Space X, Blue Origin? We probably won’t know for a while. But what we do know is that the current model of jets can travel 440 nautical miles at about 235 mph which equates to about 2 hours in the air.

Can you guys imagine what a future with electric aircraft would look like? Less noise, less pollution, probably cheaper flights, it’s pretty dang great. We can’t wait to see what Eviation does and in the meantime, you can learn more by clicking here.
