For the first time in broadcast history, Hockey Night in Canada partnered up with Molson Canadian to showcase our great games in 7 additional languages. This April, hockey fans will be able to experience NHL games in some our nation’s most popular spoken languages, in addition to the classic English, Punjabi and French versions.
On April 17th, not one but two games will feature commentaries in Cantonese, Mandarin, Hindi, Vietnamese, Tagalog, German, and Arabic. To get this done, Molson Canadian and Sportsnet have chosen Spalk, a virtual sportscasting studio that’s been used by World Rugby and the International Basketball Federation.

The two games covered that day will the Vancouver Canucks versus the Toronto Maple Leafs, followed by the Edmonton Oilers against the Winnipeg Jets. If you’re curious, the languages were chosen because they’re the most popular in the Canadian cities with NHL teams.
Well hey, the more you know, we guess! And, we’re looking forward to an even more inclusive Hockey Night in Canada this month. To watch the game, or set a reminder to watch it, you can head over to the Sportsnet website.
