Vancouver is a great city, but every once in a while we all feel the need to escape. If the adventure bug has you itching, here is a list of winter road trips from Vancouver well worth taking.

And since every adventure needs a buddy, we’ve teamed up with Hyundai to put together our picks of some must-hits over the colder months.

Leave the city behind in the all-new Hyundai TUCSON. With more tech, power, space, and Hybrid capabilities, it has everything you need for plenty of weekend getaways this winter & beyond.

Speaking of beyond, the Hyundai SANTA CRUZ is pushing boundaries by being the first-ever Sport Adventure Vehicle designed with an SUV style and open-bed versatility. Truck by day, SUV by night (or vice versa), the SANTA CRUZ matches every adventure lifestyle.

Ready to roll? Here are 5 winter road trips from Vancouver to take this year.

SUNSHINE COAST

The Sunshine Coast lives up to its name, giving Vancouverites some much needed vitamin D throughout the year. Although on the mainland, visitors still need to take the Ferry over. But during the winter months when the rocky forested beaches are complemented by rolling snow capped mountains, there’s an adventure to be had and a special magic of the season to be held.

NELSON

One of BC’s funkier towns, known for its warm, welcoming community and adventures of all kinds. During the winter, Nelson transforms into a magical winter wonderland, filled with flocks of adventure-seekers looking to hit the nearby slopes at Whitewater Ski Resort. Not to mention, it’s a gorgeous drive from Vancouver along the Crowsnest, making every road trip that much more worth it.

BIG WHITE

While Kelowna might be a hot spot for tourists during the summer months, it doesn’t quite get the recognition it deserves in the winter. From the dark blue waters of the Okanagan and the snow dusted mountains, to the bounty of wineries bordering the lake, there’s still a ton to see and do when the weather is cold. But a quick rip from the town lies Big White, one of the province’s top destinations for skiers, snowboarders, and snow-lovers of all kinds.

APEX MOUNTAIN RESORT

SUN PEAKS

An all-season hot spot, Sun Peaks is an absolute must anytime of the year. Sun Peaks doesn’t only offer 360 views and deep dry powder, but three ski-in, ski-out mountains to choose from. Plus, the European-style village is loaded with tons of accommodations, entertainment, events, activities, and more, making it a true alpine escape.

Ready to hit the road? After that list, we are too. And before you do, remember to check out the new Hyundai TUCSON and SANTA CRUZ. A road trip is an adventure no matter how you do it, so why not add a Hyundai to your journey and really enjoy the ride.
