Seattle is a very dog-friendly city. And chances are you or someone you know has blessed their lives with a fresh four-legged friend during the pandemic. So with that in mind, we thought we’d check out some of the best places to go outside with them. Here are 12 of the best dog parks in Seattle.

Magnuson Dog Park

Magnuson Park is great for humans and dogs alike. But what makes this park extra special for dogs is the dog beach. So if your pup happens to like to swim or needs to cool down in the warmer months, this is a great spot to check out.

Woodland Off-Leash Dog Park

The spot is located in Woodland Park and is a great spot to hang with your dog and dog pals. It’s nice and wooded which provides great shade during the hotter months and beautiful colors in the fall. But really it’s pretty great all year round considering your pooch can run to its heart’s content.

I-5 Colonnade Off-Leash Area

This spot is another one of Seattle’s super unique dog parks. And this one you’ll probably want to hit up soon because it just so happens to be covered by I-5. That means you and your pooch can have some fun without getting soaked by spring showers.

Where: 1701 Lakeview Blvd E

Golden Gardens Off-Leash Area

Yet another spot that humans and pups alike can appreciate. The Golden Gardens dog park is located above the beach in a wooded area. And we like this one because instead of gravel, it has wood chips. So if you want a more woodsy experience, this is a great choice.

Where: 8498 Seaview Pl NW

Blue Dog Pond Off-Leash Area

This spot is great if your dog loves to catch balls. Because this 1.7-acre park has some great grassy hills for your pooch to run up and down. Not to mention, the park is full of unique sculptures. But its worth noting that this spot can get a little muddy in the rainy season.

Genesee Park and Playfield

This spot is pretty dang bit at 2.7 acres and flat which makes it easy to keep an eye on your pup. Plus it has a double fence for your pup’s safety and gravel to keep it from getting muddy. So if you live in South Seattle be sure to check this one out.

Where: 4316 S Genesee St

Northacres Park

Here’s another spot for those who are fans of wooded dog parks. Northacres Park has trails, shade and trees, and 1.6 acres. Plus there are picnic areas and playfields nearby if you want to stick around the park for a while.

Westcrest Park Off-Leash Area

Now, this park is massive at 8.4 acres and is pretty cool because it sits on a hill above Boeing Field. So you and your pup can enjoy open spaces and paths, a doggie drinking fountain, shade, and trees. Plus you can check out what’s happening on the field below.

Plymouth Pillars Park Off-Leash Area

Now to be honest we’re not big fans of the urban dog parks. But if you happen to live in or near downtown this might be your best bet. The Plymouth Pillars Off-Leash Area is pretty small at .2 acres but gives enough space for dogs to run around a bit. And you can also enjoy a great view of Downtown.

Magnolia Manor Park

This park has a 21,000-square-foot off-leash area thanks to the reservoir that used to be there. And the park is even complete with a “chuck it” game area and dog drinking fountain. So if you live in Magnolia this one is a must.

Where: 3500 28th Ave W

Dr. Jose Rizal Park

If you happen to be near downtown or Beacon Hill then Dr, Jose Rizal Park is an excellent choice. This park has 4 acres and spectacular views of Puget Sound. Plus the area is fenced and there’s even water for pups. So if you need to get the dog out and want some views, this is a great choice.

Lower Kinnear Park

We’ll cap our list with this on-leash spot. Lower Kinnear Park has steep nature trails and lots of space to enjoy a walk with your pup. Plus you can take in some amazing views of Elliot Bay. And there is actually an off-leash spot within the park so you might as well check all of it out!
