10 socially-distanced things to do in Toronto this weekend (May 28-30)

As we round out the month of May, we’re looking forward to one final weekend of fun in the sun. Although we’re still on lockdown, there’s still plenty of great stuff to do. From virtual events to at home activities, this weekend is sure to be popping.

ACTIVETO

Another weekend in Toronto means another few days of ActiveTO. Head on over to the designated blocked off city streets to walk, run, or cycle with plenty of space around you. It’s a great way to get a little fresh air while maintaining your social distance.

This weekend marks your last chance to check out the artistic stylings of this awesome virtual exhibit. The collection of portraits are centred around the theme of these crazy times we’re living through.  We don’t need to tell you that’s sure to prompt some pretty interesting stuff.

SPRING STATIONS

Want to look at some art in person? This attraction is the one for you. As you roam outside of your home for your daily walk, be sure stop by one of the incredible Spring Station sites. Brought to us by the popular Winter Stations, you can enjoy beautiful works at the Distillery District and at 33 Parliament street. The installations are sure to provide a memorable sight to see.

CATCH THE LAST OF MAYWORKS FESTIVAL

This amazing community-based festival is coming to a close. This weekend, check out the incredible lineup of works by a diverse and broad range of local artists. They take on art and activism, with programming centred around bold and insightful takes on current issues.

SING! THE TORONTO VOCAL ARTS FESTIVAL

Celebrate global voices with this stellar online event. The Sing! Toronto Vocal Arts Festival has a whole lineup of awesome a cappella groups lined up. There will be live performances from coast-to-coast. Plus, this year marks the first ever Slaight Music SING! competition for up-and-coming artists.

SPRING BIRD FESTIVAL

Sing the songs of spring with Toronto’s bird population at this seasonal event. Although a regular year would see this one taking place in person, there will be an online version stepping in instead. Take a deep dive into the city’s native birds while you listen and learn about our feathered friends.

LIVE WELL VIRTUAL SUMMIT

Need a little R&R? This virtual summit is for you. The event is focused on well-being practices you can implement from home. It has a focus on 7 pillars of wellness: Flow (yoga, pilates), Cleanse (nutrition, holistic healing), Glow (natural beauty), Play (mental wellbeing), Reflect (meditation, journaling), Grow (stress management), and Nourish (well balanced eating and healthy lifestyle). ASIAN HERITAGE NIGHT MARKET

For one night only, you can head over to the Stackt Market to enjoy delicious Asian eats. Featuring local vendors that are Asian owned or led, this event is sure to be full of scrumptious options. It’ll all be set up to enjoy safe and socially distanced. Plus, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Collective Society 360 in support of BIPOC youth.

GET GARDENING

So the prime weekend for starting your garden may have been last weekend, but that doesn’t mean it’s too late to throw your hat in the ring. This awesome garden pop-up has all the essentials you need for downtown botany. From plants that thrive in smaller environments to easily transportable goods, this place has exactly what your home garden is looking for.

HIT A SPLASH PAD

If you want a way to cool off this weekend, be sure to check out one of Toronto’s many splash pads.
