This free to visit gallery in downtown Vancouver just opened two new exhibits that you can check out. Alex Morrison’s “Nooks and Corners” explores the ‘aesthetics of utopian thought’. Meanwhile, Canadian artist Alison Yip’s “Soma Topika” uses a variety of mediums to explore the ways that humans experience “time, space, self, and relationships”. We might not get it off the hop, but there’s no denying it’s fun to check out!

On the same note, this local film fest also wraps up this weekend! Focusing on short films from all across Canada, the festival combines a wide variety of genres, ranging from comedy to horror to sci-fi. Opt-in for a single program, or indulge with a full pass!

Those looking to enjoy the city’s outdoor options should head to the Robson Square Ice Rink, which has returned after a hiatus last year. Although this is technically a part of LunarFest, it’s big enough that it deserves its own mention. With installations happening at both Granville Island and šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square (formerly known as the Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza), The Lantern City brings together artists from all around Asia as well as local ones, making it a great option for those looking for some outside art.
