Well here we are, Vancouver! The last full week of August, which also means one of the last weeks of summer. So naturally, we’ve included a few picks off our summer bucket list, just in case you needed to cross a few options off sooner rather than later.

Here are 10 of the best things to do this week in and around Vancouver.

Watch a ‘mystery’ movie

That’s right, we want you to buy tickets for a movie you won’t know about until it starts! The Beaumont Studios is wrapping up their Cinema Surprise series this week, and it might just be one of the best ways to cap off the summer. Plus, free popcorn!

When: Thursday, August 26th
Where: 326 W 5th Avenue
Cost: $20 per person

Have a boozy brunch

One issue with trying to go for a boozy brunch is those darn lines. So, we say play hooky from work, round up a couple of pals, and do it during the week instead! That way, you can enjoy some of the best spots in the city without waiting almost as long in line.

Explore Vancouver’s incredible Gardens

For a more relaxing option, Vancouver is home to some absolutely beautiful gardens, from a wide variety of inspirations. That means you could check out the massive U of A Botanical Garden, or you could head down to East Van for a picnic in one inspired by those in Italy. And, we’re just scratching the surface!

Hike up Grouse Mountain

Of course, we couldn’t forget the Grouse Grind as an end of summer option. Not so easy that you’ll cruise through it, but not so hard that you’ll be wondering if heading there was a good idea in the first place. Plus, the need to purchase a download ticket assures some rest and relaxation once your climb is complete.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: Grouse Mountain
Cost: $20 (for the download ticket)

Take in a summer sunset

Something about a perfect sunset on a summer day just hits different, you know? Next time one happens, be prepared with a list of some truly incredible viewpoints around the city. Our must-visit spots? The various North Shore mountains, and specifically Cypress. Take in Vancouver in all its summer glory!

PNE Fair 2021

That’s right folks- the PNE Fair is back! This iconic experience is pretty much the best way to enjoy Playland at the PNE, combining the already thrilling rides with live music and entertainment. Come on, how can you watch a SuperDogs show and not have a smile on your face?
