Welcome to the end of the weekend, folks! We hope you’ve had a nice little break these past few days, and are energized for the week ahead in Edmonton. And if you need some things to look forward to this week, well then, you’re in the right place!

Here are 10 things to do around Edmonton this week.

EDMONTON CORN MAZE

The Edmonton Corn Maze is back for another season! This year, the design is inspired by the folks over at the Edmonton Food Bank. A must-visit for all ages, the corn maze is just one of those classic summer experiences you always enjoy.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 26171 Garden Valley Road, Spruce Grove
Cost: $13.50+ for GA

EDMONTON FOLK MUSIC FEST

One of Edmonton’s oldest and most-loved music fests returns this week! Hopefully, this is the last year of at-home options, but we still think putting on a stream while you’re cooking dinner one night is a great way to show your support. Especially when it’s free!

When: Starts Friday, August 6th
Where: Online
Cost: Free

TOGETHER AGAIN CONCERT SERIES

Meanwhile, you can also experience some live music this week. This brand new concert series opted for a socially distanced, reserved table approach rather than the classic free-for-all. We like it, though- we don’t wanna be getting jostled in the crowd quite yet.

When: Starts Friday, August 6th
Where: Edmonton Exhibition Lands
Cost: $59+ per person

GEOSCAPES DINNER

This dinner series proved so popular that it came back for the summer! Hosted by a local chef, these dinners are guaranteed to be a unique experience. After all, you’re eating a gourmet meal (with drink add-ons to match) in an air-conditioned dome protecting you from the elements! Sounds like a scene out of Blade Runner 2049, to be honest.

When: Starts Friday, August 6th
Where: 13204 Rainbow Valley Rd NW
Cost: $125 per person, 4 person booking minimum

TELUS WORLD OF SCIENCE

The Telus World of Science is back, baby! In addition to the regular exhibits, they’ve also brought in a new one titled Expedition: Dinosaur. And, as a special treat, the Zeigler Dome has reopened for laser shows as well! That’s a triple threat of indoor fun this week, if you ask us.

When: Open throughout August
Where: 11211 142 Street NW
Cost: $31.45 for GA

EXPLORE THE NEW METIS CROSSING OPTIONS

New experiences and spaces at this beloved cultural centre are now officially available! Go check out this incredible spot near Smoky Lake to learn in the cultural centre, explore the farmyard, or even take some archery lessons. It’s a unique day trip idea, and we’re fans.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 17339 Victoria Trail, Smoky Lake
Cost: Varies

HEAD BACK TO THE ART GALLERY

One relaxing and nice way to beat the heat this week is with a trip to the Art Gallery of Alberta, which officially reopened after an extended closure that started last winter. If you need a different kind of summer fun, then a quiet visit to an A/C controlled art gallery is always nice.

When: Open Thursday to Sunday
Where: 2 Sir Winston Churchill Square
Cost: $14 for GA

VISIT THE U OF A BOTANIC GARDEN

There’s something special about visiting a garden during the summer. Especially when that garden features thousands of plants and beautiful areas a-plenty. Enjoy some incredible flowers in bloom then lounge under a tree for a picnic! It’s a great way to beat the heat.

When: Open throughout the summer
Where: Parkland County, Alberta
Cost: $18.75

ROSSDALE POWER PLANT TOUR

That’s right folks, tours of the Rossdale Power Plant are back! This is your chance to check out a historic landmark in the city, while learning about its history at the same time! And, we have to admit, it’s stuff like this that we like to see on Instagram, if only for the unique factor.

When: Tours every Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Where: 10155 96 Avenue NW
Cost: $27.30

TAKE A DIP IN OUR PUBLIC POOLS

For a close-to-home option, a dip in a pool on a hot summer’s day is practically a requirement. Plus, it helps that Edmonton has reopened a number of public pools around the city. Whether you’re going for a couple of early morning laps or to splash around with some pals, this is a great idea.

When: Open throughout August
Where: All around Edmonton

Those are our picks this week, Edmonton! Have fun out there!
