Well, folks, we’re halfway through the month and that means Saint Patrick’s Day is here in Vancouver! Typically, we’d have massive parties and pub crawls to highlight, but this year is obviously a little different. So whether you’re Irish or just a fan of the day, there’s plenty of things to check out. Here are 10 things to do for St. Patrick’s Day in Vancouver.

Story of The Irish in BC

If you want to celebrate St.Patrick’s Day by learning a bit about local Irish history, this is a great way to do just that. You’ll get to learn about 7 different families from BC’s history and how they shaped the Irish culture that can still be found today.

CelticFest Vancouver

As you might have guessed by the name, this festival celebrates all things Celtic and Irish. So be sure to check out the lineup of events for celebration, history, and more! That way you can extend your celebration and maybe make it more educational than years past.

Traditional Tuesdays at The Shamrock Bar and Grill

You can enjoy a little pre-holiday celebration at The Shamrock with their Traditional Tuesdays. So you can expect drinks and live music but be aware that seating is limited due to COVID-19. Check it out before your crazier celebrations later in the week.

Puc & Kick Fada Competition

If you’re wanting a taste of Irish culture then you can check out this highlight reel of Gaelic Football. You’ll be able to watch the Camogie and Hurling Clubs of Vancouver in an online Kick and Puc Fada game. So if you’re a sports fan this might just be worth a watch.

Celebrate at The Irish Heather

This is another one of Vancouver’s beloved Irish spots. If you’re looking to sit down and enjoy a meal and some drinks then be sure to make a reservation at The Irish Heather. and you probably get it at this point but seats will be limited due to COVID.

Celebrate at The Blarney Stone

While we don’t pick favorites this is probably Vancouver’s most well-known Irish pub. And chances are that you’ve had at least a few nights here. So why not have one more and celebrate St Pattys Day. Just be aware that seats will be limited but takeout is always an option as well.

St. Patrick’s Festival Ireland

You can’t get much more legit than the actual celebration happening in Ireland. So if you want to songs, dance, performance, film and much more then you need to check out this festival. And. of course, you can enjoy all of it from the comfort of your own home.

Saint Patrick’s Day at Donnellan’s Irish Pub

On Saint Patrick’s Day, you can enjoy live music from Eamonn MacHale from 2 pm to 5 pm and Conor McGoran from 6 pm to 9 pm. So if drinks and entertainment are your ideas of celebrating, head down to Donnellan’s. Just be aware that seating is limited due to COVID.

Drop Kick Murphys Free Show

If there’s one thing this band is known for, it’s their Saint Patrick Day show. So you might as well tune in to hear this concert from America’s best know American Celtic punk band. After all, you have nothing to lose considering it’s free but donations are always appreciated.

Soda Bread Baking Demo

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to make traditional Irish soda bread, here’s your chance! You get to learn from Sarah Elliott Gannon, the owner of North Vancouver-based Irish Bakery, Loved and Kneaded. So be sure to register ahead of time to get your ingredients list!
